Learn how breath can inform alignment in the asanas, and how working with the breath is the most direct pathway to working with the mind, and creating a meditation practice.
We will explore the basic anatomy of the respiratory diaphragm and accessory breathing muscles, how breath happens in the system, and why it is so important to include breath awareness into your practice and your teaching.
This workshop is lecture based, and will draw upon the teachings of Leslie Kaminoff and Amy Mathews authors of Yoga Anatomy. However we will also be moving and experiencing the power of breath as it relates to alignment, and learning a few fundamental pranayama practices. This is not a traditional yoga class but be prepared to walk away understand more fully why yoga works!
