Variations for individual needs available for all classes
Accessible Yoga
I believe that all people, regardless of ability or background, deserve accessible access to yoga teachings, which offer individual empowerment and awakening.
EveryBODY can enjoy this class! Variation is the key to make this class comfortable for students with limitations; whether it be mobility, range of motion, or you aren’t comfortable getting down onto the floor (or taking a traditional yoga class), this is the class for you.
The entire practice can be done in a chair or any combination of chair, standing, and floor.
Props needed: a firm armless chair, blocks (or books), a yoga strap (or scarf or tie), and a blanket or towel.
Yin Yoga
"Yin Yoga is a complementary, balancing form of practice that allows us to stimulate and exercise the “Yin” aspects of our physical, energetic and psychological bodies.” Josh Summers
In many yoga forms, we only work the muscular half or “Yang” tissues of our bodies. Yin Yoga allows us to work the other half, the deep “Yin” tissues of our ligaments, joints, and deep fascial networks. All of our bodily tissues are important and need to be exercised to achieve optimal health and vitality. This class will also help pave the way to meditation while opening the meridians of the body and inviting prana to flow with ease using prolonged, supported poses.
Props needed: 3 or more Blankets (or large towels) blocks, bolster (or firm cushions or pillows, strap (or tie or scarf)
Yoga Evolved
Perfect for the practitioner with some yoga experience, this class combines traditional yoga with a modern approach to science. Like science, yoga movement evolves with a better understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of structure, function, and motion of biological systems’ mechanical aspects. Always evolving, each week there is a different focus.
Variations always offered. Props needed: 2 blocks (or books), a blanket (or large towel), yoga strap (or scarf or tie).
Strength for Bones, Balance & Mobility
By adding load to yoga poses and other mindful movement, we can gain both strength and flexibility. When we apply the right amount of load to the body it will adapt and get stronger.
Gradual and mindful about when and how much load to add is integral in this progressive approach using bodyweight, resistance bands, and dumbbells.
Props needed: blocks, resistance bands, a variety of dumbbells or kettle bell, blanket or towel, chair (no arms)
If you do not have weights or bands, you can get creative and find things around your home to use. (cans, water bottles, stretchy tights etc.)
Move, Stretch & Restore
Just as it says. In this class there will be some movement to get your body woken up and warmed up, some Yin type stretching, as well as relaxing Restorative Yoga poses. This class is inclusive and accessible. Individual variations are always offered.
